Omgivning is Swedish for ambiance, setting, and environment. We are Architects, Interior Designers and Urbanists.
Omgivning strengthens urban communities through architecture and interior design, emphasizing the adaptive reuse and revitalization of existing buildings in Los Angeles. We align the client's goals with the neighborhood’s history, aesthetics, current uses and growth patterns, as well as the building’s particular history, nuances, challenges and opportunities. Omgivning combines this understanding of place with our substantial experience of City requirements and regulations to create spaces that succeed for the client, the user and the community. We are valued for our ability to create thoughtful and inspiring designs while understanding budget, schedule, building systems and other aspects of functionality that make a project financially successful.
Since its 2009 inception, Omgivning has established itself as a recognized ?rm in the Architecture and Interior Design culture of Downtown Los Angeles, providing services on over 250 buildings ranging from 950 square foot cafes to two-million square foot historic landmark adaptive reuse projects. The ?rm's breadth of completed work includes adaptive reuse multi-family housing, hotels, creative office, neighborhood restaurants and bars, historic theaters and furniture design.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual whose interests and passions lie in rejuvenating, restoring and rebuilding DTLA.
