Amwins is one of the largest specialty insurance distributors in the world — employee-owned and built to last. We're planning on being here for the next 150 years. Behind the scenes, our in-house Real Estate team designs and delivers the field offices where thousands of our people do their best work. We're looking for an Interior Designer to join that team — and to put down roots.
This is a role for a designer who has spent two or more years in a corporate or commercial design practice and is ready for a different kind of opportunity. You've built a strong design foundation and enjoy creating great spaces, but you're equally energized by seeing projects through from concept to completion, building lasting relationships with stakeholders, and having a direct impact on the workplace experience.
At Amwins, you'll become part of an in-house team that partners with external firms to design and build environments that support our employees across the country. The Amwins design team establishes and maintains the design vision, guidelines, and processes that define the Amwins workplace experience. This role offers responsibility and ownership within projects while providing the coaching, guidance, and support needed to grow your expertise and be a meaningful contributor to the continued evolution of the Amwins workplace experience.
Here, you'll see projects through from kickoff to move-in. And you'll grow through increasing responsibility, deeper expertise, and expanded impact. Over time, you'll become a trusted resource within the organization—someone known for strong judgment, thoughtful design solutions, and the ability to deliver outstanding workplace experiences.
We win together at Amwins, and we have a good time doing it. We're looking for someone who wants to do that with us for the long haul.
What you'll do
As an Interior Designer on the Real Estate team, you'll own the work that turns a floor plan into a finished Amwins office:
Create Project Files — Set up and maintain organized project files so each engagement starts efficiently and remains well-documented throughout its lifecycle. Translate and model —Receive and edit incoming AutoCAD files and develop Revit models to support test-fitting and space planning activities. Support workplace planning — Develop and refine test-fits for field offices, aligning each layout with established workplace guidelines and design goals. Collaborate with design partners — Participate in meetings with external design firms and help communicate project requirements, feedback, and design standards between teams. Drive coordination — Partner with the internal real estate team in weekly meetings, keeping every workstream aligned and moving. Advance project quality — Participate in the review of construction document sets and support construction administration activities, helping ensure projects align with Amwins workplace standards, operational requirements, and design objectives from documentation through project completion. Support employee transitions — Prepare seating plans, amenity location plans, and other resources needed for office relocations and move coordination. Develop project deliverables — Assemble internally coordinated signage, graphics, and branding packages for review, approval, and production. Welcome new offices — Develop the welcome packet that greets employees on their first day in a newly opened location. Curate the details — Support the selection and coordination of artwork and design elements that reinforce the Amwins workplace experience and brand standards.
Requirements
What you bring
2+ years in a corporate or commercial interior design practice. This isn't an entry-level role; we're looking for someone who has already done the work and knows how a project actually comes together.
An accredited (CIDA) interior design degree.
NCIDQ certification, or actively working toward it.
Fluency in the tools: Revit and AutoCAD are core; SketchUp and the Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign and Illustrator) round it out. Comfortable producing graphic renderings.
Real graphic design ability and strong graphic presentation and communication skills — you can make the work read clearly to a room.
Working knowledge of interior design construction drawings and detailing, building systems, and ADA requirements.
Project coordination experience working directly with consultants and vendors.
Proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented — you anticipate the next step before anyone asks.
Who you are
The skills get you in the door. This is what makes you a fit:
Service-driven. You measure your work by how well you set everyone else up to succeed, not by whose name is on the slide.
You balance creativity with consistency. You understand how your work supports the broader Amwins workplace program and can apply established standards thoughtfully while helping deliver spaces that serve employees well.
You thrive in a team environment. You enjoy partnering with colleagues, consultants, and vendors, contributing to a positive project experience while helping maintain momentum from planning through completion.
You value expertise and ownership. You're motivated by the opportunity to deepen your knowledge, expand your influence, and become a trusted partner who helps shape how work gets done.
You're interested in building something over time. You appreciate environments where strong relationships, institutional knowledge, and long-term contributions are valued and rewarded.
If you read about this role and thought, "That's the kind of work I could really invest myself in," you're likely the type of person who will thrive here.
