Bettisworth North is seeking Interior Design Interns for Summer 2026 to work with our team in our Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska offices.

As an intern, you will have opportunity to gain knowledge and work experience as part of an integrated architecture and interiors project team. You may assist on a range of assignments while working under the direct supervision of a more senior Interior Designer. This is a paid internship opportunity. You will gain practical experience working with integrative teams, understand the design and construction process, and learn how a design firm operates.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from interior design or architecture program, CIDA-accredited preferred; third year of bachelor program or higher
- Interest in a career in commercial interior design
Responsibilities
- Supports design, production, construction administration, and FF&E procurement as assigned under direction supervision.
- Utilizes appropriate communication techniques for positive collaboration.
- Accountable for technical completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of work.
- Assists in managing interior resource library including vendor/manufacturer rep relationships and project-specific materials research, sampling, and presentation preparation.
- Participates in local professional organization and community events.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Proficiency in MS Office suite
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Intermediate skills with Revit
- Experience with additional design and graphic software including Sketch-up, Enscape, and Bluebeam is desirable
- Cursory understanding of color, materials, and aesthetic form
- Cursory understanding of space planning methodology
- Cursory understanding of furnishings and equipment
- Cursory understanding of design solution development
- Awareness of building codes, accessibility standards and guidelines, and sustainability standards
- Strong organization, planning, and prioritization skills
- Strong graphic skills (hand sketching and digital formats)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Developing passion for the profession; an interest to engage in the design process
Where You’ll Be Working
Please note this is an on-site position; hybrid and remote arrangements will not be considered for the internship position.
This position is based in our Fairbanks and Anchorage offices (limited opportunity for travel to the other office and remote project locations). Our Anchorage office is in the heart of midtown surrounded by amazing food, local shops, 360-degree views of the city, and mountains and the ocean to explore in our backyard. Our Fairbanks studio is near Downtown Fairbanks on the banks of the beautiful Chena River.
The Basics
- Classification: Regular, full time, exempt
Summer internship compensation packages do not include comprehensive benefits such as insurance, paid time off, professional development allowance.
