Eskew+Dumez+Ripple is a nationally honored architecture, interiors and urban planning firm recognized for producing innovative projects grounded by a strong understanding of context, culture, and environment. We build across the country and around the world, with the goal of integrating beauty and performance.
From the firm’s inception, we have been driven by four enduring core values: Design Excellence, Environmental Responsibility, Community Outreach, and Client Commitment. Every aspect of the practice has been structured to support these ideals. The resulting body of work – ranging from intimate interiors to large urban planning projects with numerous stakeholdears – reflects our aspiration to building community, regardless of project scale, budget, scope or complexity.
Our practice’s commitment to culture and civility places public participation at the center of what we do. We work to integrate many voices alongside the constraints of climate, place, and budget to deliver projects that provide the greatest positive impact for the owner, for the user, for the community, and for the planet.
Company History
Widely known for the highest quality architectural design grounded by an understanding of context and culture that resonates far beyond the Southeast region, New Orleans-based Eskew+Dumez+Ripple was established in 1989. From its inception, the partners articulated four enduring core values: Design Excellence, Environmental Responsibility, Community Outreach, and Client Commitment. Every aspect of the practice has been structured to support these ideals. The resulting diverse body of work – ranging from small intimate interiors to large urban planning projects with myriad public stakeholders – reflects the firm’s broad contributions to civic life regardless of scale, budget, scope, or complexity. Housed in an open studio offering expansive views of the Mississippi River and the historic Vieux Carré, the multi-disciplinary practice employs 54 staff including 7 Principal shareholders and 10 Associates.
Eskew+Dumez+Ripple has been recognized with over 100 awards from the American Institute of Architects, including 9 National AIA Awards for design excellence among the 28 national awards the firm has received over the past dozen years. The diversity of this recognition is evidence of a remarkable breadth of acknowledgment: two National AIA Honor Awards for Architecture, two National AIA Honor Awards for Interior Architecture, a National AIA Honor Award for Regional and Urban Design, a National AIA Housing Award, and a National AIA Small Project Award.
The majority of these awards were for projects where time and budget, not architecture, were the prime concerns for the client. Notably, they were completed by a practice operating far outside the recognized centers of architectural fashion within a community not known for championing progressive, contemporary design.
